A Guide to Weight Loss and Children
By Stv Stamos
Weight Loss and Children No matter what the age group, according to information gathered and examined by the National Center for Health Statistics, since the later 1990’s, there has been a striking increase in obesity in Americans. However, it is the increase of overweight adolescents and young children that is of grave concern. Just about 10 million youngsters between the ages of 6 and 19 are overweight, and this count is getting greater. The Family Statistics tell us that a great deal of children are more at risk of becoming overweight if both their parents are also overweight. While in some instances, this might be attributable to a strong hereditary factors, in most cases it is because they are molding themselves after their parents. What their parents eat and what physical activities, if any, they participate in, could indirectly impact on children weight. Inactivity On average, an American youngster will spend several hours every day viewing television or in front of a personal computer. Compare this to a generation ago, when this amount of time would have been, most likely, utilized in some kind of physical activity. There are a great number of children who are right now overweight, they are use up very little energy and frequently consume high calorie snacks. Nowadays, almost 1/3 of grammar school children in the USA, carry out some kind of physical training and less than 1/5 engage in physical activity programs after schooling. They are instead viewing TV or playing on their computer. Heredity Research has shown that heredity could shape the body weight of a child or teenager. It has been also established that children born to overweight mothers have been observed to be to a lesser extent active, and frequently gain more weight by the age of 3 months compared to those children born to mothers who are of normal weight, which indicates a potential innate drive to preserve energy. Take Action Weight loss is hands down one of the most crucial issues a lot of the Fast Food Generation is facing today. Although the majority recognize the enormity of the 'overweight' problem, it appears that some of the times, overweight people do not greatly concern about their body's size and condor and consequently about their health either. But what about the children? Don't we rather be good models to our children so they do not have to struggle like we have? |
